OUR FOUNDERS

Marquise & Diamond King

Diamond, became pregnant and gave birth at the age of 16 years old. It didn't matter that, she was raised in a home with both of her parents, lived in a good neighborhood, went to a great school and attended church. The point of all this is that she wasn't exempt from teenage pregnancy. Teenage pregnancy can happen to anyone in any social economical group. She remembers many statics that were associated to teenage pregnancy such as (high school drop-out, poverty, welfare recipient, etc.) all which are real-life possibilities, without the right support system. Fortunately, she had a great support system, which she credits as the key factor in making a difference in the outcome of her story. This is why she has vowed to help other young parents facing this same obstacle to overcome the same.

She vowed to complete high school, and she did. Later, she went to college and earned a degree in Information Technology. For the last 27 years, she has worked in the Information Technology sector.

In her early twenties she had a dream. She believed it was GOD giving her a glimpse into her future. She believed that GOD was telling her to reach back and make sure that other teenage parents facing teenage pregnancy had an opportunity to reach their full potential by offering support. Although, it didn't come into fruition for many years, she knew in her heart, The LORD, had spoken into her future in that dream. NO matter how long it took, one day she would have to answer that calling. Reflecting back, she now understands that each loss, obstacle and setback was all part of the preparation process. She learned to embrace the opportunities that each present and use those as confirmations to walk into her purpose.

One of Diamond's favorite bible verses is Luke 12:48 "Whomever much is given... Of him shall much be required". She is now devoted to helping under-served youth with emphasis on helping other teen moms overcome the stigma and statics of being a teenage mother. She's excited to share her knowledge and experiences with each while encouraging each to follow their dreams and be the best they can be.

Marquise, was raised by a single mother with 3 boys, in Lamar Terrace Project in South Memphis. Although exposed to poverty and crime daily, he vividly remembers only one positive program (Memphis Partners) that was available to him within his community. Due to an environment with limited programs, he was negatively influenced and at a young age began selling drugs and doing anything he thought would help provide basic living essentials, that were so hard to come by in his surroundings.
With no access to positive resources, and little to no money, he became a victim of his environment. With his unrealistic perceptions of life, he eventually served time in a youth military boot camp called (About Face) and a few years later, he served 3 years in prison for his poor choices. Upon finding himself incarcerated and away from his loved ones, he made a commitment to himself that would change his life for the better. Once he was released from prison, he found a job within the first 2 weeks. With hard work and dedication, he excelled from a regular laborer into upper management within 10 months, within a multi-million-dollar company. As he reflects over all his bad choices and consequences, Marquise knew he always had leadership qualities, but he didn't properly develop or display them due to the influence of such a negative environment and lack of proper mentorship. Ultimately, Marquise not only made the decision to change his environment, but he also began making better choices which ultimately changed his future. He has made a commitment to mentor and share his experiences with today's youth to prevent them from making the same bad choices.
Today, Marquise is an entrepreneur, operating a few thriving businesses. He is dedicated to being a positive citizen in society and devoted to sharing his experiences with the youth to encourage them not to make the same mistakes.
Marquise two favorite motto(s) "Don't allow your start to predict your ending" and The "5 P's" (Proper Preparation Prevent Poor Performance. Marquise is dedicated to doing his part preparing today's youth on how to prepare for their futures.
